Foresight Styles Assessment (FSA) has been developed by The Vision Center for Futures Creation. The Vision Center has as its goal, the development of foresight or long-range thinking necessary in all organizations as well for the personal development of individuals. Foresight Styles Assessment is one of many pedagogical tools developed and tested for the teaching of futures thinking within the field of Futures Studies. It is based upon academic studies in many fields and is greatly influenced by the latest neurological research in mental time travel or the ability to imagine a time that does not currently exist.

See article Foresight Styles Assessment: A Theory based Study in Competency and Change , Journal of Futures Studies: Epistemology, Methods, Applied and Alternative Futures, Vol. 13, Num. 3, February 2009.

Motivation: In working with the abstract concepts inherent in futures thinking, it became necessary to find a practical diagnostic tool which helped individuals, groups and organizations understand their own foresight style by assessing their natural propensities. Assessments are quite familiar to most people in the workforce today and are also used in the process of personal growth and development. The result is a less theoretical introduction to the more abstract subject of foresight.

Since there is very little totally new under the sun and most of what contributes to future scenarios, or possibilities exists today. It is the new combinations of these existing ideas, ideals and materials in the light of new conditions that Foresight and long-range thinking are needed more than ever.

Who was FSA developed for: The end users of FSA are consultants working with strategic and long-range thinking in companies and organizations. It has also been developed for coaches who are working with leadership development of those who want to begin thinking more long-range and have better skills in seeing consequences and patterns in behavior over time. It can also be used in personal development. Recruiters can use it to underscore the competencies that are week within a company or organization. See other users...
